Monsoon?

I am not sure how I feel about the weather in Rexburg. At first, I thought I loved it. But now, I am questioning that opinion. Yesterday it rained insanely. (Is that a word? The rain insanely rained insanely...) Anyway it rained and it was bitterly cold. Of course, I had packed all of our winter clothes. Silly me, it is June and I thought that it was supposed to be summer. HaHA! Was I wrong! It was cold and Justin was the only one prepared. As he never puts any of his clothes away for any season (or reason... yes, I am a poet...) But since Caroline just learned to ride her bike, she was bound and determined to ride it. Even in the coldest of weather. Now, I am a good mom, (sort of) I would not let her outside when it was raining, but during the brief interludes where there was just hurricane force winds minus the rain, she was out there on her bike. Of course, she was wearing her coat and kept bugging me about finding her other glove because her hands were cold, but she was out there nonetheless. She was in a coat with a pair of long pants and flip flops... Yes, flip flops, because being the good mother that I am, I had yet to purchase her a pair of sneakers. She had outgrown her Barbie Fairytopia sneakers... So last evening we braved the gale force winds and blinding rain and made our way ALL THE WAY to Idaho Falls to the mall. I had a $10 off any purchase of $10 or more coupon at JCPenney. It expired on Sat and I needed to use it! It was free money!!! So we checked out their shoes and I was appalled at the prices for kids shoes. Shocking! So we found some she liked and we approved of. The sneakers have to be good with traction as she will be wearing them for soccer in a couple of weeks. No sneakers with bungi cord laces, or no traction on the bottom. Her stipulation was they had to have pink on them. But not the bright pink that she normally likes, the light pink that gets really dirty really easily. So, like I said, we found some, got up to the counter and find that they are on clearance! Yippee! Except, the clearance price is $30, and we can't use the coupon, and the sale that is posted that says "All girls athletic shoes on sale" does not really apply to these particular shoes. Of course not. So, we go to Sears and find a blue pair for her. No pink in sight... whatever... don't question it... they were on clearance for $10 and they were really good sneakers. (But sooo last season...) And we got a pair of Thomas the Tank sneaker for Hilton. Oh, that was a fiasco... He grew out of his too... What is it with kids? Growing and such... I have shoes that I have had since college! You don't see ME growing out of shoes! I grow out of clothes... but that is another Blog for another time... Anyway, we got the shoes, the kids were happy, Justin was happy because we saved lots of money. But I was not happy because we had not used my coupon and it expired on SAT!!!! We needed to use it! So I talked Justin into finding something that he could buy. His Father's Day present! He bought 3 pairs of socks for $10. We had to pay NOTHING!!!!! Free socks! I am sure that is not the intention of the JCPenney people when they send out the coupon. But guess what... too bad, so sad. We got free socks. It was worth the trip into the Monsoon-like conditions...

McAllen is at the almost most southern tip of Texas, I doubt I will come across her. Did you go on a mission? Where? Texas? I can't believe I lost touch with you in such a way!

There are two stakes in El Paso and the ward that I am in is probably the biggest in my stake. There are 35 active girls in YW and the primary probably has 75-100 kids in it including nursery. I am in the 13th ward.

I'm still giggling over that post. You could turn it into a Dr. Suess book.

I like to bike out in the rain.
Even if the rain's insane.
I have no sneakers on my feet.
I'll wear my flip-flops in the street.
Only Justin's prepared for the season.
He never puts clothes away for any reason.
I have a coupon! Hip hip hooray!
Oh no! It expires on Saturday!
To the mall! Oh, what a shock!
$10 dollars worth of free socks!

LOL!
