Summer Stuff

It is so beautiful outside. We are supposed to be having record high temps today! It is going to be in the 80's! Just gorgeous! I love wearing my capris and short sleeve shirts! On Sat we went to the mall and I had a coupon at JC Penney and I got the kids some much needed summer clothes. I am always shocked when the clothes they wore the previous summer don't fit them this summer. But I got some good deals. It is hard to find modest summer clothing for girls. Caroline is at that age where I need to be very careful about what I put on her. No more tanks tops and bubble suits. She is almost 7 and she knows what is appropriate. So mostly I just have to buy TShirts and shorts. She hates capris. She doesn't like the way they feel on her legs. She has never been one to be picky about what she wears. Until now... Hilton is wearing TShirts and shorts too, because that is all they make for boys. His favorite color is orange. So he has 3 orange shirts. Because I don't want him to wear the same one every day. But, I bought him a shirt with a "red-eyed tree frog" on it and it is his favorite. He only wants to wear it! Nothing else! Caroline's favorite color is pink. That dark shocking pink... So all of her stuff is pink. But that's okay. I don't care that my kids are monocromatic. As long as they are clean. Yesterday Caroline made a kite at school so she wanted to go fly it after school. SO we all went to the park and failed miserably. The kite kept breaking and we couldn't figure out how to put the string on it. It was a sad day for the Bates Family. But it wasn't a total loss because we got some exercise and sunshine. Today is Mom and Dad's anniversary! 42 years they have been married! Congrats! They are in San Diego for a little trip. I am jealous! I want to go somewhere fun... But we are going down to St.George on Friday for the blessing of Chris and Allison's twin boys. That will be a nice little vacation. We can get away for a bit. When do we get to start having vacations that don't involve staying with our parents???

Mmmmm... shorts and t-shirt weather. Sounds divine. Congratulations to your folks. They're a rarity these days.
