My Shallow Self

I had a friend ask me to tape American Idol for her. I invited her over to watch with me the next day and it was wonderfiul to find someone who is almost as critical as I am when it comes to television personalities. I find that in this little Mormon town, the women are competing to see who can be the nicest, least controversial, and least flawed person in the community. It was a great change of pace to have Sarah sitting beside me in her stained maternity shirt, complaining about Eliot's funky teeth and elf-like ears. Someone to say out loud what I was thinking, that Katherine was living in 1983 with her mini skirt and black pumps. I asked her how she felt about the Idaho newscasters (As they are probably the ugliest people on TV) and she said she got Dish because she needed to get Utah news because she couldn't stand another day of all the madness. She is of the same mind that people on TV should be beautiful. Yes, I am shallow. But I am not alone!!! My best friend in the whole world, Vicki, knows how I feel. She shares my opinions. I love her! But it is nice to finally have someone in this town who is somewhat of a kindred spirit. Speaking of American Idol... Yea!!! Funky teeth man is gone! But I should not judge. Maybe he has never had the money for braces. Ithink, however, that he needs his jaw fixed too. I am pleased that Kat and Taylor are the final 2. I think Taylor will be the one to win because Paula and Randy are so hard on Kat. Unfair really...
