Evangeline Oak and Plantation

This is in St Martinville when Justin's Mom was here. We went to visit the Evangeline Oak talk about in Wadsworth's poem. And we went to visit the plantation in town. We learned a little about how they lived. We learned how the Acadians came to live in South Louisiana which was of particular interest to Donna since she is Canadian. Broussard who settled the people down here had come from Monkton, New Brunswick which is very close to where she is from. It was a very nice day... then we went to Carraba's for dinner which might have been the best part! That is my new favorite place to eat! Back to the trip, the kids even had a good time looking at the old house and seeing the potty that they used... and seeing the house that the Acadian's lived in, a one room house, not even close to the size of this plantation house where the creole's lived...
