Impossible kid

Hilton is really driving me crazy with this baby-talk. He talks like a baby all the time now. I try to get him to talk normally but he won't do it. And he has been so defiant! He will not do one thing I ask! Threats to take away privilages don't even work. Is it his age or is it because of the baby coming. He has also developed an imaginary friend. Her name is Kaley. She comes with us everywhere and insists on getting her own book from the library. Luckily she shares other things with Hilton. But she does have to have her own place to sit in the car and at the table etc. So far, she hasn't done anything wrong, but I am worried that soon things will get blamed on her. Right now, everything is Caroline's fault. Even if I saw him do it. This is not something I need right now. Any suggestions, people? pregnancy

Another ode to my husband

Justin was home last night. It was very nice to have him home. We didn't do anything special. Just FHE and scriptures, dinner, and tv. But it was nice to be able to tell him things right off the top of my head when I think of them instead of waiting until I remember to tell him later. And then not really remembering. I have a friend who is recently divorced, well almost a year now. She tells me she will never remarry. And she doesn't understand how I can possibly stay married. I feel bad for her because she has had such a terrible marriage experience. But everyone kind of knew from the beginning that it wouldn't last. We never thought it could possibly have lasted as long as it did! I wonder how many people thought that of Justin and me. We were quite a volitile couple when we were dating. We fought all the time. But being married has solved problems that we had when we were dating. Honestly I don't know how, but it did. I just read a book called Jane Austin in Scarsdale. It was a modern adaptation of Persuasion, kind of. But the heroine had one true love whom she had let go 13 years before and she never could stay with another man because of this one. He was the one for her. I am not much for the whole, soul-mate thing, but I do know that had I not married Justin, I would always wonder what my life could have been. I would always remember him with fondness and love and wonder if he was my one true love. I think he might be! Isn't that silly and crazy!? He has his faults that drive me absolutely crazy, but doesn't everyone? He is a lovely man. Anyway, I don't mean to gush. It is just that when he is gone for so long doing a play, I realize that I do love him and really need him. I think I do this after every play. I am just glad it will be over soon. I usually kind of dread him coming back home because I am just not used to him being around all the time and he kind of gets in the way. But being pregnant makes me want him here so he can do all the work! pregnancy

nesting

Today, Justin and Caroline are at the Theater all day because there are 2 performances. So Hilton and I spent 2 hours at the park with the rest of eastern Rexburg. I think I got a little sun, even though I didn't feel it. There was a cool breeze that gave me a chill and probably was not good for my bronchitis, but the fresh air was so great for Hilton. Then we came home and both had a nap. He will not be going to bed until midnight now, but I was so tired that I did not have the energy to keep him awake. Yesterday I spent the day getting the Toyota cleaned up. I took it in to have an oil change and then spent numerous quarters vacuuming out. We are trying to sell it and need to have it clean for when people look at it. We did have someone look at it today, but I don't think they will get it. Oh well. I hope someone buys it soon. Anyway, between that, and cleaning the house, my body just hurts. This bronchitis is lingering, but the doctor said that it would be a few weeks and it has just been over a week. But the congestion and sore throat along with the cough make life a little more difficult. But I could be much worse, and the people in the ward have been so great about taking care of us. We have had 3 meals brought to us this week. It has been wonderful. The kids haven't had to have fast food for dinner at all this week! We have had plenty of food. More than enough. I cleaned out the fridge yesterday, which was another dleightful task that I imposed upon myself. but I am getting into that nesting stage where I need the house clean. Unfortunately I cannot do it all. But the play and school will be over in a little over a week and Justin will be home again to help out. He is so great about keeping the house clean. I am glad he is not directing a play this summer! i don't know what I would do! pregnancy

more baby stuff

The baby woke me up this morning, kicking me. It was so cool at first, and now it is kind of getting annoying. I cannot imagine having 2 or more babies in there kicking me. But I will cherish every minute of it. I cannot believe that in just a few months we will be welcoming a new baby into this home. She is going to love it here. I have gone pink toile crazy. I have bought bedding for her and matching for Caroline, and a pink and white toile carseat. It is definitely an illness. If I see pink toile I have to get it! But since this is going to be the last baby, I am indulging myself. I should be careful. I haven't bought anything in 3 whole days. If I just stay away from ebay, I am fine. Meanwhile, Hilton is really struggling already. I think we waited too long or not long enough between him and this baby. He keeps talking like a baby. I have been going through the baby clothes to give away his stuff and he does not want to get rid of it. He screams!!! He says he is the baby. At one point he found one of his diapers from yester-year and he wore it for 3 days. Is this normal? I am sure it is. But I feel bad. I don't want him to feel unloved or left out or anything. Especially when the baby comes. Caroline is fine. She is just really excited. At one point I got something in the mail for the baby and she threw a fit because she said I care more about the baby than her. But she was soon over it, and she was really tired that day. She is excited to have another girl in the family and to be able to share a room with her and have matching beds and everything. I told her pretty soon she will be holding her and changing her diapers and she laughed. We are all ready for this baby! pregnancy

Faith

Caroline has strep throat. hilton has a cold. I have bronchitis. We are all in sad shape. My VT brought dinner over yesterday and Mondya which was lovely. Justin's play opens tonight, so he is no help at all. aside from the fact that he is panicking over not having a job in 4 months. But everything else is fine. We have our... not our health. We have our home... we are very blessed. I just need to keep saying that. Someday I might believe it! No, I do recognizing all of our blessings. Heavenly Father will continue to bless us if we are faithful. So here's to FAITH!!! pregnancy

My busy life

Well I went to the doctor and I just have a virus. He said it is likely to turn into bronchitis because he has seen a lot of it. Right now I am living on Ricola cough drops and I have no appetite. My throat still kills but I did get some sleep last night. But I cannot walk to the kitchen without getting out of breath. My nose is starting to run, and the doctor said that this is just the begininng. It will get a lot worse. Oh joy. Tomorrow is the Primary Activity and I cannot leave the President hanging. In addition to the fact that the Stake Primary Presidency is coming on Sunday so I have to be there then too. I guess I will just muddle through! I will have to take solice in the fact that next week I can at least rest during the day. I hope nothing pops up. but it always does, doesn't it? But I have only 2 kids. I am not a pioneer woman. I have a dishwasher and washer and dryer and I have a somewhat helpful daughter when she is in the mood. And soon this blasted play will be over and I can have my husband back! Yea! I cannot wait for him to be home in the evenings for longer than scripture reading. Except that means I will have to start cooking again. Ok, I gotta go lay down, I am getting dizzy. pregnancy

It is 4am

It is 4:00 in the morning and I have been up since 1 am. I am tired, but my throat hurts so bad I can't sleep. And I can't stay in the bedroom because I keep coughing and keeping Justin up. So I just have to sip water constantly to keep the fire in my throat down a little. I haven't had a sore throat like this in a very long time. Poor me... I have spent some time looking for a carseat, a diaper bag and a crib. I am still not ready to commit. Justin keeps saying we have plenty of time, and we do! But I am just so excited to buy all this pink stuff that I can't help but obsess over it. Caroline is in Justin's play. She just has a little walk-on part where she doesn't have any lines. But she gets to wear a costume and makeup and all the girls in the show fuss over how cute she it. The show opens next Wednesday, so I will have to start picking here up after her part every evening. That means no 7:30 bedtime and I am not looking forward to her grumpiness for the next 2 weeks. If she does not get a full 12 hours in, she is not a nice little girl. But she is very excited for her big stage debut, so I am glad she has gotten this opportunity. pregnancy

My baby girl

pregnancy Yesterday I went to my 6 month appt and everything looked good. I had my glucose test and barely passed, but no insulin for now. I am anemic so I have to eat more red meat... GAG... but the baby looks great, no birth defects that could be detected in the ultrasound. The weather here is so warm. It has been in the upper 50's and low 60's for several days. Today it is a bit cloudy, but still warm. Hilton and I are going to a children's theatre production. He is very excited. And then I have a ton of stuff to do to get ready for the Primary activity on Saturday. So once again, you probably won't get a lot of blogging from me this week. I am feeling good though, and I am starting to enjoy the downhill part of this pregnancy. I cannot wait to meet this little girl who keeps kicking my bladder and making me have to go to the bathroom every hour! She is fiesty, and I hope it is not an indication of her personality outside of my body! But she will be loved soooo much, we just are too excited to see her. Part of me is ready for her to come, but I still have way too much to do to get ready for her!

pregnancy Saturday we had an entire evening with Justin. So we all went to dinner and then to Bridge To Terabithia. It was a wonderful movie. I was worried that it would be too upsetting for Caroline but she loved it and cannot wait until it comes out on DVD. Hilton even stayed awake for the whole thing. It wasn't even as "magical" as I thought it would be, but it held his interest the whole time! It was also nice to spend time with Justin. He is always so busy with the play that we don't see him much. He does come home most days so we can read scriptures and have family prayer, but that is not much time for the kids to spend with him. Just a few more weeks and the semester will be over. And he is not directing anything the summer semester, so that means he will be home almost every evening! Yesterday he and Hilton and I had to go to Idaho Falls because he needed to pick up some stuff for the play so it was a work trip, but we went to Olive Garden for lunch. I gorged myself on salad so that when my entree came (crab alfred0) I ate about 3 bites and brought the rest home. Justin loved eating it when he got home from rehearsal lst night. But may I just say, it was delicious! They really put big huge chunks of crab on it and the alfredo sauce was not too rich. It was very good!! Today I spent the day cleaning Hilton's room and mopping the bathroom floors. As Hilton does not quite understand that all of his peepee needs to go IN the toilet, not just in the bathroom. It was an exciting day.

Good Day

I am feeling really good today! I have started feeling goood most of the time. Friday was very rough, but I got through it. Today I am determined to... I don't know what I should do today. I want very badly to go through the baby clothes, but I feel like I am jumping the gun a little bit. I am only 5 months along, almost 6 though!!! I got the baby's quilt that I got from ebay in the mail on Saturday. It is so cute and beautiful. I cannot wait to use it. I had my first dream about the baby the other night! She was so cute and perfect. I am glad I am dreaming happy things instead of the dog-baby dreams of several weeks ago. She is really moving around a lot in there. Last night I tried to let Justin have a go at feeling her kick, but of course, she stopped as soon as he put his hand on my belly. He is totally not into the whole feeling her kick thing. I think it totally grosses him out. But since this is the last one, he has been more open to things like that. No, I really have nothing else to talk about besides my pregnancy. My life is pretty focused on that right now. And waiting for Spring. I am sooo ready for Spring and warmer weather. I just bought 2 pair of Birkenstocks on QVC... They are on sale big time, and my feet are really expanding. So I need them... Well, not really need... But anyway... they are on flex pay so I only have to pay $20 a month for 4 months, and I could totally do that. Anyway, I am ready for the warm weather. There are some people around here who wear flip flops all year long, even in the snow, but my feet get too cold so I have to wear socks and I HATE wet socks, so I will just have to wait until all the snow melts. Am I rambling? I better get dressed. pregnancy
