Honor roll

Caroline got her report card today and she is on the honor roll!! She got all A's an one B in math. I feel bad that she got both herparents genes for ineptitude in math... But her teacher said she has exceptional handwriting and spelling skills!

Lorelai's blessing

I have been trying to post pics of Lorelai in her blessing dress, but Blogger is having a problem with it. So I will do it at a later date. But I wanted to let everyone know that Lorelai was blessed this past sunday. Yes, it was a long time in coming, but with the move and everything, we just now got around to it. Vicki let me borrow a goreous dress and bonnet for the blessing. Lorelai was so pretty and she was just an angel. She was so quiet and Duane, who was giving the blessing with Justin, said she looked up and smiled at him. Justin gave her a beautiful blessing. He blessed her with kindness, with patience with her siblings. He blessed her to have a special relationship with me, that she will be a great help to me and a confidant. It was so nice. So many people came up to tell me what an amazing blessing it was and that they had never heard one like it. It was so great. I am grateful to have a husband who is so in-tuned with the Spirit. Anyway, it was just lovely. Today the kids are home sick, which would not be so bad if I were not sick too. We have colds and coughs and it is making us all miserable, including the baby. So I am going to make this short. I just wanted to write about the blessing before I forgot. I will keep trying to post those pictures!

Pesky Asthma

i am not going to bother with caps since i have lorelai on my lap. she is complaining and fake crying. i know it is fake because when i imitate her "uh uh" sound, she stops... little turkey! Ok, now she is in the swing. Now that I know the crying was fake and not real distress. It was a busy day. I had to take Hilton to the doctor because of that pesky asthma and he has walking pneumonia. Poor kid. It is obviously not contagious since it was caused by his asthma. But does it slow him down? NO! This kid never stops. I tell you what. He does not sleep well at night. He never has. So the doctor wants to do a sleep study on him to see if he might have sleep apnea. (I don't know if that is how you spell it...) Anyway, he thinks he may be having trouble breathing at night and that is why he wakes up in the middle of the night, everynight. It isn't just because he wants to annoy us and make us get less sleep that we are already getting. Between him and Lorelai, I think I get about 2 hours of quality sleep a night. Anyway, the doctor saw how Hilton bounces off the walls and instead of just wanting to put a bandaid on the problem or dismissing it because he doesn't have time to deal with it, he actually wants to see if he can do something about it! Can you believe it? A doctor who actually spends time with you in the doctor's office? He also PERSONALLY called an allergy specialist to see when he could see Hilton. He wants to get him in for testing and to get his meds changed for his asthma because the one he is on now just isn't doing the trick. He has had 3 episodes with asthma since we have moved here in less than 3 months. That is simply unacceptable. That is 3 episodes, meaning several attacks with each episode. So we might just get this kid fixed! Meanwhile, I am so ready for him to go back to school. We have plans to go to the Waihi''s tonight for chips and salsa and a mean game of trivial pursuit. We throw the kids in their playroom and just have some adult time. It is great! Anyway, We have a busy weekend planned, so I better get going on the cleaning before I run out of day!

Am I stressed?

Hilton is home today. His asthma is acting up so I kept him home so he doesn't have an attack at school and freak everyone there out. His breathing treatments don't seem to be doing the trick here... He is coughing up a storm. Vicki suggested going to the allergy specialist, so I am going to get a referral from the pediatrician today. He can't see him today. Louisiana seems to be worse on Hilton's asthma than Idaho and I thought it was bad there. So anyway, hopefully the allergist will have a magic potion to help out. Meanwhile Hilton is not sleeping much. Lorelai woke up every hour last night and the only reason I know I fell asleep last night was because I had a dream that all of my fillings were falling out of my mouth and my teeth were crumbling. I have heard this dream means you are stressed. I don't feel stressed, just tired. So I am going to try to get H to take a nap while L is taking one and maybe I can get in a wink or two...

Where have all the bloggers gone?

I would like to pose a question to my fellow bloggers... What are you doing!?!?! Come on! I check your blogs every day, and most of you only post every once in a while when something really important happens. I just want to hear about your day to day. I want to read your stuff and feel bad about how lazy I am because I don't make jam with my kids and paint my house and take my kids cool places and spend 24/7 doing things for others. I am selfish because most of the time, I am usually thinking about how I can make myself happy.. hm.. like what yummy food can I make? What magazine or book can I read? (No, that does not include a book for the children.) When can I take a nap? So I need to live through you, my blogging friends. So that I feel like I am doing something good for my family, even though I am really just reading about someone else's selfless tasks...

Walred's

Hilton and I went to Walgreen's yesterday H: Why isn't it called Walred's? ME: I don't know, that is a good question. H: I wish it were walred's. Or walyellow's or walblue's. ME: I like walpink's. H: Mom, that is just silly.

Louder than Words

Last night I read "Louder Than Words" by Jenny McCarthy. It is about her son's struggle with Autism and her journey pulling him out of it. Vicki recommended the book to me. Her 4 year old son, Andrew has autism. She has been using many of the methods that Jenny talks about in her book and has had great results. Not as astounding as Jenny's son, but amazing and wonderful none-the-less. I encourage everyone to read this short book. It is not even 200 pp. and a very quick read. Please do not be offended by some of the bad language. If you take it in the context, you will understand her feelings, and it goes away after the beginning of the book. If you know someone with a child or grandchild or sibling or relation or friend with autism, this book will touch you. It should touch you. Even if you have an aquaintance with a child with autism this book is important for you to read. Not for all of the stuff she did to get him out of it. Not to hear what she believes caused it. Because I know it is very controversial and I am not asking anyone to buy into that theory. (Even though, after my own research, I do.) But just to gt a tiny glimmer of what it is to be a mom of a child with autism. So that you will do everything in your power to help that friend when she needs help. It is a devastingly lonely process to go through. At the beginning of the book it says that when your child is diagnosed with cancer people come to your house with caseroles but when your child is diagnosed with autism, people try to stay away from you in the grocery store and wonder why you can't control your child. Please don't be one of those people in the grocery store. I have been so touched by what my friend, Vicki does for her son. She dedicates all of her time, all of her energy, all of their money, to finding a way to help Andrew. I could only hope to be one-tenth the mother she is. I could only hope to be one-tenth the mother any of these women are that care for special needs children. And you say, but it is their job! They are the mom! You are right. But I have seen mom's who have had it. And just can't take it any more and give up. So help out a mom today. Even if it is just a phone call to pat them on the back, or a minute to let them cry on your shoulder.

I'll take cream and sugar, please

Today is a quiet day. Lorelai is napping right now. I have a rare chance to get on the computer without having to hold her in my arms and there is nothing to talk about. I have no witty stories to relate. I have no spirtitual experiences to express. I should go pluck my eyebrows and fold the whites that have been sitting in the laundry basket. I should read a book since I have neglected my reading for months. I was reading a book a couple of weeks ago but I am in a reading slump. I just am not motivated enough to do it. I would rather sit in front of the boob tube and veg for a while. Especially since I find it difficult to hold a baby and a book at the same time. I am a wimp, I know... OH! I know what I can tell you about. You are going to be shocked when you hear this! Or maybe it was just me... Justin and I picked up Hilton from school on Friday and he said that his teacher gave him coffee. We were a little confused. Surely he was mistaken. It must have been something else. Maybe they were playing house and pretended to drink coffee. No, he was adamant that he had had coffee. He said they have a drink of coffee and it was yucky and then they had coffee with sugar and it was yummy. Justin asked what they were learning about and he said the five senses and they were doing taste. Well, on Monday I made Justin go pick up Hilton because he had off. I wanted him to talk to the teacher because apparently sometimes I am not very diplomatic when I get upset about something. (Whatever) So sure enough, they had given the children coffee! It was "diluted" coffee, but it was indeed coffee. Justin then proceeded to tell the teacher that we do not partake of coffee in any shape or form, diluted or no. And also tea. The teacher apologized and said it wasn't in Hilton's file so they didn't know. I am sorry, I didn't know I had to put that in Hilton's file. I guess I will have to send a note in saying that we don't drink alcohol or smoke or do any recreational drugs too so they can "put it in his file." (Is that what is meant by not being diplomatic?)
