Clean???
Maybe my standards are too high. I am soooo tired of the kids' rooms. I clean them, or they clean them, and the next day, they are a disaster again. Maybe they have too much stuff. I am sure this is the case. Which is why moving is so good. When we move (which is a yearly ritual now) Justin takes the kids out one day and I get two garbage bags and go through all their toys. This year will be no different. Thank goodness. I can't wait to get in there and get rid of all those happy meal toys and puzzles with missing pieces and toys that have been living in the bottom of the toy box for a year now. I really try to keep a tidy house. It seems like my mom always did a much better job than I do. I clean, and clean, and clean... it will never end. I have said this before, the only satisfaction I get from cleaning are those few moments right after I have just finished cleaning, and I can sit on the couch in the clean-ness of my house and be happy for a little while. And then the kids come in and wreck it all. Or Justin hangs his blazer on the back of a chair and leaves his Pepsi can on the counter. What is the secret to a perfect house? What is the secret to always having that clean, quiet?

The secret is learning not to care too much about the mess and the clutter. Clutter drives me crazy too, but I can, with a bit of effort, ignore it, and just sit back and enjoy the company of those messy, disorganized little critters of mine who mean so much more to me than a tidy house. That said, we're moving at the end of the month too, and I can hardly wait to toss out half the toys/clothes/papers/JUNK we've accumlated over the last four years! Whoohoo!
The secret is when your kids get older and you can make them pick up their stuff and do other chores or they lose their favorite play-thing. Works for my kids. Of course right now there is not a clean spot in the house because it is over-run with Trek stuff that will disappear tomorrow!
I love to go through my kids toys and throw stuff out. Last weekend I went to Nicole's house and helped her get rid of 2 big lawn bags filled with toys. I always clean toys out right before birthdays and Christmas. It makes my life a lot easier.
Cyndi did a great jog helping me clean out...she made it so much easier..."OK Nicole does Anna really need 2 of the same barbie." It feels so great to let things go, and then you feel even better when you take it good will and you know that some other poor mom's house is about to get more clutter. Oh, and Jenny I just looked at your profile, that is too funny.
